What is the difference between a Cloud Server and shared hosting?

A cloud server is an isolated environment with your own resources whereas in a shared hosting environment the server resources are shared among all accounts on the server. In a shared environment you are restricted to use the features enabled by your provider whereas in on a cloud server you are free to disable/enable features suitable for your website. Also, on a cloud server you have your own dedicated IP and hostname usable for services such as sending email. On most shared environments, you’ll be sharing an IP address and hostname with other shared server tenants.
